What's Happening at the Prossers'?

Normally, when we send out newsletters, a lot of what we write about is our church and the ministries that we are involved in, but this time, we wanted to let you know about some of the things that are going on in the Prosser household. 

The Kids

All three of our children are doing well. They all started another school year within the past year. Their goal is to be done with this year's schoolwork by the end of September so that they can have a nice break when we are back in the United States and Canada this fall.

And yes, we are planning a trip to the US and Canada this fall. It is our once every two years trip that we normally take. We don't have the itinerary all planned out just yet, but we will keep you updated as things progress.

Caleb just had his 13th birthday just recently. Angie and I can't believe that we have a teenager in the house now! We are super excited and looking forward to heading into this next season as parents. We figured that we will be parents of teenagers now for the next 12 years - until Emma is no longer a teen. Wow!
Justus is doing well and enjoying soccer along with his older brother. He loves playing and running around with our dog, Thorin.

Emma lost her first tooth a little bit ago. Between her and Justus, it seems like they are losing teeth at a rate of one every

week!

Angie and Jason

Angie has recently been invited to minister in Australia at a worship retreat for one of our partner churches in Perth. This is an excellent opportunity for her and she will be travelling there in June. We are very proud of her and how her gifting and her spirit of excellence with our worship department are opening up doors for her to bless other people in other churches.

I (Jason) also had the opportunity to travel to Laos recently. I probably can't say much here about what we did there, but I met up with Gary Heyes from Hamilton and some friends of ours from PBC that are based there in Laos. It was an excellent week and we are excited to see what the future holds for that country.

Well, that's an update about our family and I guess that I did slip in a little bit of an update about our ministry there at the end.

Oh, and one more thing. I also recently released a book! It's called "Blessed" and it's an inspirational-style book based on the verses of the Bible that begin with the words, "Blessed is the one who . . . The Prossers in Portland

Spending time with awesome friends during MFI

We’ve been in Portland for the last few weeks now, and we all have been having a fantastic time. During our first week here, it was a blessing to catch up with several friends and leaders at the Minister’s Fellowship International annual conference. It was also great to have Pastor Jesse and Soar McCaul here from Cambodia to attend the conference. It was funny because we said ‘good-bye’ to them in Cambodia on Wednesday and then we went to the airport in Portland and picked them up on Friday!

We’ve also had a great time spending time with Angie’s family while we’ve been here. The weather was sunny and beautiful for the first couple of weeks, so we got out and took advantage of it by going on some family outings. We’ve been to the Oregon Zoo, the pumpkin patch at Lee’s Farms as well as Playdate PDX, rollerskating and other places. (We’ve also been to McDonald’s a few times too!)

The kids have been enjoying reconnecting and making new friends as well. Emma and Justus have been going to City Christian School for half days during the week while Caleb continues studying his home school. However, Caleb hasn’t been left out of the fun, because there are a couple of other boys his age who live up on the City Bible Church campus and they love to get outside and play together.

Our Cambodian friends and church family are always in our thoughts and prayers while we're here too. Thanks to Facebook, Skype and internet communications, we can be in contact with them 24/7. It's nice to be able to been kept 'in the loop' as to what is going on and to how the church is continually growing and moving forward. God's hand of blessing is on all of our churches in Cambodia!

Finally, we just want to say a big “THANK YOU!” to all of you who have blessed us by praying for us, spending time with us, giving generously to us and listening to us as we tell about what God is doing in Cambodia. We are so blessed by each and every one of you.

If we haven’t met up with you yet, we hope to run into you soon. This is what our itinerary looks like for the next few months, so keep an eye out for us as we travel. We will be in Portland through October and November. During the week following Thanksgiving, we will fly from Portland to Baltimore, MD to visit Ben and Rebecca Malmin. After that, we will take the train to Buffalo and then on to Hamilton, Ontario to visit Jason’s parents there. We will spend Christmas and New Year’s in Hamilton before flying back to Portland. After a few more days in Portland, we will then fly back to Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Worship Team Retreat

God is so good! And He loves us so much! I (Angie) am on cloud 9 right now because of His faithfulness.

Just last week I had the opportunity to take our worship team on a 3-day/2-night retreat. This is something we've been talking about doing ever since I was set-in as the Worship Team Director over a year ago. The team is made up of about 90 young people, who love to worship God and love to have fun.

We began planning and quickly found out that the maximum amount we could charge each team member wouldn't cover our costs--and we have several on our team who are doing their best to eat and go to school every day, so we knew we needed some sponsors. I put one simple post on one of our church's Facebook pages, and within just a few days we had all the sponsors for individuals that we needed!!

The next challenge came less than a week before we were due to leave. The place we had booked had given away our reservation! They said they somehow got us confused with another group. We later heard that this happens quite frequently when a subsequent group offers to pay more. Well, there we were with 80 people signed up to go, meals and activities planned, and no place to go!

But God came through! We sent a few people to check out a place that is currently being built up as an Eco-tourist site. It's deep in the countryside, situated on a river, surrounded by flowers, and absolutely gorgeous. I firmly believe this was the place God wanted us to be all along. I definitely had my panic moments, but He was so faithful to gently remind me that He was with us and was working out His perfect will.

Our next concern was the weather. The rainy season has seemed to hit early this year, and most of us were camping in tents! We also planned for our two morning sessions and team games to be outside. But God took care of it. When we first arrived and began to set up camp, it started to sprinkle. My faith quivered, but one of the girls on our worship team (and a dear personal friend) declared out loud, "God we ask that it will not rain in the name of Jesus, amen!". Within a minute the rain stopped, and my faith got back up to where it should've stayed. That night as I lay awake in my tent, there was thunder and lightening all around us, but it never rained on the place where we slept. Just like He planned, we had perfect weather the whole time.

Our sessions were precious as well. Each morning we worshipped, I shared, and we all just received from the Lord. Some prophetic words were given, some were slain in the Spirit, and all of us enjoyed spending time with the Father. He is so faithful!

A Great Opportunity!

Hello friends and family!

It’s been a few months since I (Angie) posted a blog, so I just wanted to take some time to give you a quick update on the view from my end of the spectrum. J

Stretching, increasing, learning ore, producing more—it’s our daily life here in Cambodia. I’m loving the role God currently has me in: wife, mom, worship team director, and I even get to assist in the pastoral care of about 30 girls who have been rescued from human trafficking. In spite of the horror stories that their lives used to be, the Father’s gentle hand is causing beauty to rise from the ashes. I’ve said it for years, and I’ll say it again, “I’m living my dream!”.

This blog, however, is more than just a quick update, it’s also an SOS for help. Jason and I have been doing our best to organize our schedules in order to balance family and ministry. We’ve declared Fridays to be our day off from both work and school in order to spend the whole day together as a family (and for Jason and I to get away for a date a couple times per month J). The homeschool curriculum we’ve chosen for the kids is flexible enough that we can get it all done in 4 days/week. However, with Caleb now doing grade 4, Justus starting grade 1 in the Fall, and Emma starting preschool, I am finding it very difficult to keep up with both ministry and homeschool. Jason and I have prayerfully decided to ask if there is a servant-hearted young person out there who could commit to coming and helping us for 6 months to a year. This would be a great opportunity to “get their feet wet” in missions, and do it in the safe environment of our home and church here in Phnom Penh. We would envision them homeschooling our children a few mornings a week and then using their afternoons to serve in one or two of the various ministries of the church.
